The Menopause Project is a series of events that include workshops, movement and dance classes, performances, and community health + wellness summits.
The Menopause Project grew out of the 2025 premiere of our dance work, Musings on Menopause, choreographed by Sinnamon Hauser and Kindra Windish. Sinnamon and Kindra created Musings on Menopause as a way to process, understand, and offer social commentary on perimenopause and menopause. Through humor, honesty, and vulnerability, the work explores the physical and cognitive shifts that accompany this stage of life. During the research and development process, we were shocked by what we discovered and recognized the need to expand the project beyond performance.
Although menopause has become more visible in our culture, there are still significant gaps in support, education, and resources. We have read countless articles and heard many stories of women navigating menopause without adequate medical, emotional, or mental health support.
This research inspired us to expand the project to include a series of workshops and a Women’s Health and Wellness Summit. The workshops focus on women’s health through the perspectives of healthcare providers, wellness practitioners, and movement artists. The goal is to create spaces where women can access resources, build community, and connect with others navigating similar experiences. The Women’s Health and Wellness Summit, designed to accompany performances of Musings on Menopause, will bring together diverse speakers, educators, and organizations to provide education, support, and community engagement.
This project exists to create visibility, share trustworthy resources, and remind people that they are not alone. We believe in the power of community and the arts to foster connection, spark conversation, and create meaningful change.
Nearly 90% of women experience menopausal symptoms, with almost a quarter describing them as severe.
Despite this, less than 1% of global healthcare research funding focuses on female-specific conditions, and most physicians receive little to no training.
There is a need for visibility and access to support this time in women’s lives because 70% of women report menopause affects their mood and mental health and only 30% receive support.
This project is urgently needed.
More about
Musings on Menopause
Musings on Menopause was created from our lived experiences and seeks to bring visibility to the diverse yet deeply shared realities of menopause. Built through collaboration, the piece honors both the similarities and differences in how women move through this stage of life. Each section is inspired by a symptom, sensation, or emotional response to our changing bodies and minds, offering touchpoints that are relatable to audiences whether they are currently experiencing menopause, have been through it, or may one day encounter it. Through movement, music, humor, and vulnerability, the dance expresses the celebrations, frustrations, confusion, support, empowerment, rage, grief, and growing pains that can accompany this transition.
The choreography was developed collaboratively with each dancer to honor the understanding that every person experiences menopause differently, with unique needs, emotions, and responses. Sometimes words are not enough to express what we are going through, and this dance became a way for us to process, reflect, and bring awareness to the vastness and diversity of this “adult puberty.” The work playfully explores the absurdity of some experiences while also acknowledging the uncertainty and intensity of realizing our bodies and minds are shifting. Accompanied by a varied soundscape, Musings on Menopause creates space to laugh, commiserate, and connect through a shared human experience.
